All dog owners who think that obedience classes are a waste of money!!! I also thought that, until my dog Holly started exhibiting aggressive behavior to my youngest son. We tried everything to change her behavior, I read books, talked to my vet, But nothing seemed to work. I had all but given up hope, and resolved myself that we would have to give the dog up, when I heard about K9 Koncepts. When I first contacted Bill at K9 Koncepts, he listened and I could tell right away that his knowledge of dog behavior was extraordinary. I signed Holly up for their obedience class and have never regretted my decision once! James, who leads the class is amazing. He showed me how to handle Holly's behavior and to counteract it with positive reinforcement. And when Holly continued with some of her aggressive behavior, Bill and James both came to my house to evaluate Holly in her own environment. I was touched that these two men were that dedicated to their work to give up their Friday night. Without their help, Holly would have had to been put down, since with her aggressive behavior she was un adoptable. I just want to thank these two caring, dedicated people who have touched my life and made it better. I now have a lovable well adjusted dog, who is like a member of my family!! Thank You, Natalie Tollberg |
Bill and his staff at K9 Koncepts are miracle workers. Thank you for all of your work with Mollie. She is now such a wonderful addition to our family. She walks well on a leash and actually plays with other dogs. You all are miracle workers. Thanks Again, Jessica Taylor, Donna Rittermann & Mollie |
In December of 2005, I moved out of my parents home in Maryland and into a house with some friends in Washington DC. The area was not so great and I wanted to buy a dog. A friend of mine who is a Sergeant for the police department in DC recommended me to buy a German Shepherd. At the time I knew nothing about German Shepherds but that they are used as working dogs by the military and police. I took my friends suggestion and bought a German Shepherd puppy that same week. Living in DC was not working out and I decided to move back into my parents' house. Both my parents and I decided that the dog needed training. ![]() I began asking people if they knew any other place to train and no one knew. One day while talking to my friend Sandy, I said I need to get my dog trained before I go off to school. She told me about doing Schutzhund with her Rottweiler and told me that was what I needed to be doing with my German Shepherd dog. Since I would be attending The Citadel Military College of South Carolina my parents said the dog needed to be trained before I left for school because I would not be able to come home at my leisure. I immediately began researching Schutzhund on the internet and found K9 Koncepts. I made a phone call to Bill Campbell and explained to him my situation. He said I needed to come and see a demo. The same day I drove from Silver Spring, Md. to Baltimore, Md. ![]() I have been with K9 Koncepts for a year now and consider them family. My dog has turned out great thanks to Bill Campbell and everyone at K9 Koncepts. My parents can handle him when I am away at school. Dog training with K9 Koncepts has been fun, rewarding, and I now have a well behaved working dog despite the useless time and money wasted at Petsmart. Patrick Salerno - Jan. 2008 |
K9 Koncepts is the place to go for obedience classes. I have an 8 month old white German Shepherd named Holly. When I first got her flown in from Missouri I knew she was going to be a fearful dog. But I never thought she would get as bad as she did. I could not take her near other people or dogs without her going crazy trying to run and hide, pulling away from me, and barking her head off. It got to the point where my vet said if I did not enroll her in some kind of obedience classes and get her socialized she would become a fear bitter and to hard to control. I didn't want that to happen because she is such a beautiful dog. So I looked into a few places that offered obedience training. None of the places really impressed me with there knowledge of dog behavior and their interest in helping me with my dogs individual problem until I found Bill at K9 Koncepts. The moment I talked to Bill I knew this is where I would be taking Holly. He listened to my story and I could tell right away that his knowledge of the dog was phenomenal. When I took her there he watched how she behaved and right away he said this dog needs a lot of work to over come her fears but it can be done. He set me up with one of the trainer's named Gale who is great and little by little they got Holly use to the other people and dogs in the group along with learning her basic obedience sit, stay, come, etc... Now after only 5 weeks of training I have seen a big improvement in Holly she actually can sit in the group as apposed to being a couple of feet away in the beginning. She is also taking food right out of Bill and Gale's hands which is amazing considering before she would bark, growl, and run away from them. It is so exciting to be able to take her to the park without being afraid of what she will do to the others that are around her because of her fears. I can't wait to see what the other 11 weeks I have of training will bring. Thanks, Jen and Holly |
Hi Bill, I am dropping you a note to express what a lifesaver K9 KONCEPTS has been for myself as well as my seven-month old male German Shepherd Puppy Jack. I raised Scotch Terriers for years and have owned three German Shepherds. My Jack is just "the devil of them all". He is so full of life and constantly into anything and everything he can get into. At seven months old he weighs almost seventy pounds and is more than a handful. After three months of training with my 70lbs. puppy he now walks beside me on a leash without pulling, returns to me when he is off leash, sits when told, and is working on his stay in place. I also think it has been so important to get the socialization with other dogs and strangers that he gets to meet at training classes. If you have a special problem with your dog, no matter what it is, James or Bill will take the time out to help you. K9 KONCEPTS has so much to offer. My goal at the present is to help Jack become a good member of our home and community. We both have learned so much and look forward to going to agility and protection work. I am so glad that I found BILL and all the other staff at K9 KONCEPTS and would recommend K9 KONCEPTS to anyone. RUTH GASTROCK - Jan. 2008 |
After my husband deployed for Iraq, ![]() Since then I am happy to report that he has graduated from his beginning level of obedience, which is much harder to complete than most beginning classes. K9 Koncepts hold their clients to a higher level and not only expect more from them but also succeed in obtaining the best! Now Ranger is in James's class and is really doing great! Bill, Gail and James helped me not only achieve my goals with Ranger but actually exceeded them. Thanks to K9 Koncepts I now have a well behaved, very social, confident, and incredibly intelligent companion. Thank you so much, Candice and Ranger |
Dear K9 Koncepts, Bill we want to tell you how impressed we are with your dog training course. This is the best school we have seen yet and we did a lot of research on schools for training dogs. Everybody that owns a dog should go your school to keep dogs safe and well behaved. I would be crazy if my dog took off running in the street and got hit by a car because he wasn't trained well enough. He is also now becoming well behaved around children. We can't thank you enough! Most people are afraid of two Dobermans but with your training they are becoming more at ease. Thanks, Lailani & Jim Ryan |
I like going to K9 Koncepts. ![]() He has passed the puppy class and is now going into the off leash training - thanks to K9 Koncepts Dog Training. Edward Lackey & Zeus |
I just wanted to write a letter of thanks to Bill and to let other dog owners know how successful K9 Koncepts is. I have an adorable yellow lab/ pit bull mix. He has never been aggressive towards anyone or anything and is the friendliest dog! That was not our problem. Our problem was that he just would not listen. I'm not talking about accidents in the house or chewing on things. I'm talking about slipping out of his collar and running nonstop throughout the neighborhood, pulling as we tried to walk him and generally just not behaving. The last straw was when he ran out onto Harford Rd. across four lanes of traffic and head butted a moving car. We knew then that we had to do something or we would lose our sweet, precious Lombardi. After looking around on the internet I came across K9 Koncepts' website. I gave them a call and within minutes Bill was calling back. That was just the beginning of what turned out to be great communication and customer service. We took Lombardi to observe a class and after watching for just 15 minutes we were so impressed with James and the reasonable price that we knew there was no question we would be coming back. That very same day James started working with Lombardi. After a little sassing from my boy James showed him who was boss and it's been that way ever since. We now take him outside without a leash and don't give a fleeting thought to him running away and not coming back when he's called. The best part about the training is that Lombardi and I have bonded so much more since we started. He comes everywhere with us now and everyone comments on how well-behaved he is. He is free and happy and so are we! He has come such a long way that he has done some obedience demonstrations and we're considering putting him in obedience shows and competitions. Lombardi also started looking forward to class. On Saturday mornings he would jump into the car and as we got closer to the field he would start wagging his tail, jumping around and just getting excited. He was so happy to do what we asked of him and always had his dopey grin on his face as we were working. It's a big commitment but definitely worth it! Your dog and you will be so much closer and happier. Thank you K9 Koncepts for helping Lombardi and I to be much happier! P.S. James is the best! |
Hi Bill, Sam and I just wanted to Thank You for all the help and guidance you gave to us for Shadow. You guys are the best and I would recommend K9 Koncepts to anyone. Shadow is really doing well, and is 100% better than before. It's so great to be able to go for walks now, without him flipping out every time he sees another critter. I am so Thankful that I stumbled across your commercial on TV. If you guys decide to have the dog competition, Please let Sam know. We will be forever grateful to you Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! Pat and Sam Glorioso |
On Friday March 4, 2005, ![]() I saw a flyer for K9 Koncepts at a pet store in Dundalk, Maryland - an area I do not normally frequent - and it said they specialized in customized dog training to fit your needs. The fact that they claimed to keep your needs in mind and always take the extra time to make sure you get everything you want from your training interested me so I gave them a call. They were actually training dogs that night and invited me to come which I readily accepted. It was a Tuesday night, a night I'll probably never forget because it was raining. After signing on the dotted line I asked "when do we begin?" and they said "right now!" "It's raining." I exclaimed, and I was quickly told that dogs have to go out whether it is raining or not and we train no matter what the weather. It was dark and I could hardly see Major and I was told to go down between two huge warehouse buildings and sit in a chair, which BTW was wet, but that is another story and call Major to come. Well I laughed about that one as I knew Major would high tail it somewhere else. ![]() That is where K9 Koncepts comes in, and if you stick with it you can expect two types of experiences; first expect to learn new things you can apply immediately and second and possibly even more important is the "Aha" experience. Discovering a deep understanding about this dog training thing. It is an extremely affirming experience, one well beyond learning something brand new.... Peggy Cole & Major |
Hi Bill, I just wanted to let you know that a year later Cassie is a great dog. I still work with her on her basic commands but have also taught her drop, settle, off and cool it. It's amazing that our 1 1/2 year old son can throw the ball to her and she will drop it at his feet. Our older boys and their friends play with her and get her all wound up in the yard but when they are done they can say settle and she'll calm down instantly. She is great in the house and is rarely kenneled which is a huge change from when we came to you. She is also protective of her space and the boys. A few weeks ago a man came to our door while I was upstairs. My five year old was going to open the door, which he shouldn't have, and Cassie stood between him and the door barking. The more my son pulled on her the louder she barked but she never turned on him. He never did get to open the door. The man left before I could even see who was there. Before I came to you for training I thought my options were either living with Cassie's bad behavior and aggression or getting rid of her. I'm glad we took your class and that you taught me how to work with her so she could such a good family pet. Thanks, Terri Thompson |
As the proud parents of Nossi and his hero, Bam Bam, ![]() We cannot say enough about the benefits of professionally training your own dog. You will see such a boost in your confidence in your ability to train, because you see results in both you and the dog. As you train, you gain an intimate knowledge of your dog, the dog’s abilities, and the weaknesses of both dog and trainer. This level of personal growth and accomplishment will help you enjoy and show pride in a four-legged family member. So why do we recommend and sing the benefits of using K9Koncepts? It is simple. The staff. They are respectful and professional, provide personal attention, and have many, many years of experience training and working with dogs. They have a combined, deep and layered knowledge of training, breeds, and techniques. Having gotten to know Bill Campbell, James, and all the staff at K9 Koncepts, we know that it is not customer service; it is the much rarer concept of personal interest. The really want and need to know how things are going. We would be happy to discuss the training and acquisition of these kinds of dogs with anyone with a similar need. We look forward to continuing training with K9 Koncepts, and our great relationship with the staff and fellow satisfied customers. Rich Severin |
